Organ music for weddings, funerals or special occasions ANYWHERE
Greg Hartay-Szabo was born in Hungary, where he began his organ training at Pál Járdányi Music School in Budapest, with István Baróti, Organist of the Esztergom Basilica (the fifth largest cathedral in Europe).
His talent with the instrument soon had him deputising for his teacher, later taking up studies at the Bartók Conservatory in Budapest.
He later came to Australia as a dual citizen and studied with Christopher Wrench at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, earning an honours degree and winning the organ prize three years in a row.
He was appointed Organist and Director of Music at Albert Street Uniting Church in 2005, a position he still holds, as well as providing music for graduations at the Queensland University of Technology.
He is in demand as a wedding organist, soloist, orchestral and chamber musician, playing in a number of local music festivals. He is a pioneer in the use of virtual organ technology (Hauptwerk) and has played a crucial part in introducing prominent pipe organs around the world to Australia using Hauptwerk technology.
Greg has recently been made Knight of the Order of St John of Jerusalem as well as Knight of the Sovereign Society and Order of Szt Laszlo for his contribution to Hungarian culture.
